Bangladesh authorities demand BDT126bn (US$1.5bn) from GP - unlikely to be resolved soon
Press reports today indicate the government issued a letter to Bangladesh telco Grameenphone (GP) on 2 April demanding BDT126bn relating to taxes owed following a government-mandated independent audit. The audit evaluated GP from 1996 to 2015.
Of the BDT126bn, BDT85bn is owed to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and BDT41bn to the National Board of Revenue (NBR). GP is required to pay within two weeks...
