Chinese issuers to benefit from trade war truce
The combination of the truce in the China-U.S. trade war and the recent change in regulations on off-balance-sheet financing could spark interest in Chinese issuance.
China’s total debt burden has risen sharply since the global financial crisis, worrying policymakers and investors. To partly address this, new rules restrict local government financing vehicles (LGFVs) from issuing new debt.
