Nigeria: Buhari stops the bad Housing Fund law
A reassuring development on policy. According to local press reports, President Muhammadu Buhari has not assented to the National Housing Fund Act, which was passed in Parliament just before the general election.
This means our concerns in a previously published report that the law was negative for consumers and corporates, and would start Buhari’s second term on a poor policy note, are no longer grounded.
Expectations for Nigeria growth remain low and are reflected in valuations and trading volumes considerably lower than the historic average.
